[Everyone else starts off with Donald Trump. Why do I have to be different?]
1. If you haven't seen The Donald's speech from earlier today, I highly recommend watching the whole thing. You can find it here
I still can't figure out if The Donald's huge ego is running this ship, or if he's nefariously out to help another Republican; for instance, Scott Walker. Either way, it's hilarious to watch. It's funny listening to him talk about how great he is. It's rare to see a human so all about himself. He's like a NFL wide receiver crossed with an indignant small town sheriff. You could just play his speech for 21 minutes, and you'd have a show.
2. marxist thought because why not: what is a marxist? who can claim to be one? maybe it's better not to worry so much about who we each love; just as long as we're motivated by love, not fear.
3. We could stop locking up Black people, just saying.
My state is in big financial trouble. You're state probably is too. But even that is not a good enough reason not to lock up Black people. Why do I say it that way? Because that is what has happened in many states with high African-American populations. My state still sends people to state prison for possessing/selling even small amounts of marijuana, over small amounts of money. But when I say, "people," let's be frank.
Check out these racial disparities in marijuana arrests in the 25 most populous counties:
I'll save more graphs, tables, statistics, because they can always be manipulated to say what you want. The point is numerous studious of all kinds tell us that you're much more likely to be arrested, and go to prison, for things that we all do to a relatively even amount.
If a state were to fully legalize cannabis many of these arrests would go away. The savings in court time alone are enormous. Taxing legal marijuana is a cash crop for poor state's. But here's the rub; every state that's legalized, has done it thru popular referendum in a general election. Turns out the two parties aren't interested in legalization, even if a majority of Americans are.
